Our tips for keeping your resolutions in 2025
January 10, 2025
Here we go again. January and its good resolutions! At the start of 2025, we suggest you put guilt and pressure to one side, and set yourself goals that will above all contribute to your well-being and good mood. Here are a few tips to help you face this year in a positive way and keep your commitments.
What if making morale-boosting resolutions was the best way to stick to them? Let's put an end to unattainable goals and be indulgent with ourselves.
Be realistic and take it easy
The best way to fail at your new resolutions is to set unrealistic goals. If you're too ambitious, you run the risk of getting discouraged too quickly and giving up along the way.
Our advice is to set goals that are neither too easy to achieve nor out of reach. Try to respect your limits, while challenging yourself a little. If, for example, you want to get back into sport this year, don't set yourself the goal of running a marathon. Simply tell yourself that you're going to “move more”. This can start by deciding to stop taking the elevator and go for a walk 2 or 3 times a week. This way, you can take things one step at a time, without the risk of getting sick of sport.
If you want to start an artistic activity like painting, don't be too hard on yourself and start gently. Don't try to achieve perfection straight away, and think first of all that this activity is intended to make you feel good.
Get your friends and family on board!
And what if, this time, you didn't stay alone with your good resolutions, but got together? Now that's a good idea! When you're in a group, you can support and motivate each other more easily than when you're on your own.
If your resolution is to read more this year and spend less time in front of the TV, join a reading group or create one with friends. If you've decided to eat less meat and more vegetables, why not share recipes with others and organize meals to taste each other's culinary creations? You can also choose restaurants that offer vegetarian à la carte menus. You're sure to find what you're looking for among the many establishments that accept the Pluxee Lunch card.
If you've decided to take up swimming, try to find people who are interested in swimming with you.
When you're no longer motivated, knowing that others are counting on you can put you back on your feet and keep you from giving up. Over time, your appointments may even become habits.
Look for creativity and inspiration
You really don't know where to start? Then looking elsewhere for inspiration may help. Whether it's around you, among friends and family, or further afield, with the great artists and professional sportsmen and women, it's possible to find out what's worked and what hasn't.
To unlock your imagination and unleash your creativity, you can create a “vision board”. To do this, gather together a number of visual elements (photos, drawings, various images) and arrange them on a large poster, chalkboard or any other support (physical or virtual) that might inspire you. Do it chronologically, or by theme - it's up to you. You can add inspirational words or phrases. As you work through it, new ideas are likely to emerge. This tool has a number of advantages: it allows you to materialize your ideas and draw out certain objectives, it facilitates mental organization and reminds you of your aspirations throughout the year.
Commit to something !
If you're one of those people who need something to keep them going, we advise you to make a direct, concrete commitment. This can take the form of club membership, event registration or subscription.
Entering into a contract makes things more real and, in a way, obliges us to honor our commitment, even if it only involves ourselves.
Whether for financial reasons or simply out of pride, it's harder to say goodbye to good resolutions if you've reached an agreement with a third party.
Have fun
If you adopt a positive attitude and focus on having fun, you'll certainly find it easier to achieve your goals.
Making a good resolution doesn't have to be a chore! Be indulgent with yourself and don't hesitate to do everything you can to make your project a pleasant one. If your goal is to take up physical activity, you could buy yourself some new equipment or a connected watch to motivate you, using the Pluxee Gift card for example. If you've decided to stop smoking, why not give yourself a reward for each successful step: a little restaurant, a new book, a movie? If your new resolution is to spend less time in front of the screen, replace these moments with moments of relaxation or sharing.
