Team building with colleagues? Yes, but for a good cause!
March 3, 2025
Are you tired of having to participate in the same team building event with the same people every year? How about something a little different this year? What if, this year, you took your colleagues on a meaningful adventure of solidarity?
In Luxembourg, charity events are plentiful and take place all year round. To inspire you, we've selected four that combine sport and fun.
1. Le relais pour la vie - March 22 and 23, 2025
Unfortunately, cancer is a common theme that affects us all in one way or another.
Every year in March, the Cancer Foundation organizes a large-scale 24-hour event to support people affected by cancer and their families. The idea is to walk, run or cycle in teams, taking turns, for 24 hours. The funds raised are used to prevent cancer, save patients and help those affected by the disease.
To support this charity event, you and your colleagues can form a team, either in person or online. The event at La Coque is already fully booked for this year. But you can also form a team remotely, with an unlimited number of participants! The principle is the same: you take turns on foot or by bike, in the location of your choice (park, forest...). Your team simply needs to accumulate a total of 24 hours of mobility.
The good news is that registration is open until the weekend of the event, March 22. Click here to register : https://www.relaispourlavie.lu/former-une-equipe-connectee/
2. The Duck Race – April 26, 2025
The Duck Race is a well-known charity event in the capital. This year, the fun-filled, family-friendly race takes place on April 26.
Each participant buys one or more plastic ducks, each with a corresponding number. The race traditionally starts on the forecourt of Neimenster Abbey, on the banks of the Alzette. At the start, the ducks are released into the water and the first to arrive are rewarded with numerous prizes.
The money raised goes to charity every year. Participating in the 2025 edition: Passerell a.s.b.l., Stärekanner a.s.b.l., De Leederwon a.s.b.l. and Fondation Wonschstär. In addition to supporting children in need and the most destitute, the Duck Race has been awarded the “green event” label. So you can celebrate in an eco-responsible way while supporting a good cause.
The event is a great teambuilding opportunity! On-site, you can try culinary specialities and typical Luxembourg drinks. There will also be entertainment for children.

3. ING Night Marathon – May 31, 2025
This must-attend sporting event in Luxembourg needs no introduction. The ING Night Marathon is for everyone: the marathon for seasoned runners, the half-marathon, the team-run (relay marathon with 4 participants), the 5K Run For Success, and for the youngest, the minimarathon (over 12s) and the mini minimarathon (under 12s).
There will even be a course for wheeled sports enthusiasts: wheelchairs, racing chairs, Hoyt chairs, joëlettes, strollers, skateboards, longboards, snakeboards and kickboards!
Through this sporting event, which you can take part in on behalf of your company, you can support a good cause via one of the following four associations: Care, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, ONGD-FNEL, and Unity Foundation.

4. Mets tes baskets – all year round
“Mets tes baskets” is the flagship campaign of the ELA association, committed to the fight against leukodystrophies and very active in Luxembourg. Over the past 4 years, it has been deployed in more than 40 countries around the world.
"Mets tes baskets” is a corporate challenge organized for one or more working days. A symbolic date can be chosen, such as World Health Day on April 7, or the national corporate sports day on September 18.
Each employee involved downloads the app, which acts as a pedometer, to record the number of steps walked during a set period of time (e.g. a working day). The aim is to walk as much as possible, in order to transform the steps into a donation for the association.
At the end of the challenge, your employer has two options. Either they convert the total number of steps into a sum of money, on the principle of 1 step = 1 cent. Or make a donation of any amount. An original way to improve relations between colleagues, while supporting research into the disease.
